Silicon Mac Support for Hive Desktop App

The Hive desktop app for any mac devices with the new/current M1/silicon chips (IE - all macs sold over the last couple years) is extremely buggy and much, much slower than the web app in Chrome. My assumption is that the current program only really supports Intel-chip Macs, not Silicon-based Macs. I would recommend you develop a silicon optimized version of the program OR specify that you shouldnt download the app if you have a silicon Mac.

Kelley Bunge: How can I be sure I'm running this version on my mac?
Kelley Bunge
Hi Rebecca Harris - if you're in the desktop app and go to 'Hive' in the toolbar and choose 'About Hive' you'll see the version number. If you have anything above '2.3.0' then you are running a version that supports the M1 chip. If you are not you can go to Hive > Check for updates > Update to get the latest.

Completely agreed Ryan. Our M1-optimized app is close to release. I use an M1 myself and cannot wait for the update.

John Furneaux: Awesome thanks. Any timeline on when that will be released? Wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy, the performance on M1 seems much slower than web.

Ryan Sherwood: It's a tough tech one, so I can't be immediately certain, but my hope would be ~3 weeks?

John Furneaux: Oh great, much sooner than I expected. It will be a separate download option on the download page right? Thanks!

Hi John Furneaux - I wanted to follow up on this. I'm eager for the M1 optimized app to come out...do you have an updated eta on when I can expect this to be ready? Will there be a beta version I can test?
John Furneaux
Ryan Sherwood: Hi Ryan! Yes, me too. We're down to 2 remaining issues before we can release. We are dependent on a third party for one of them, which makes it harder for us to get this done swiftly.

John Furneaux: Awesome thanks. Is there an approximate time estimated associated with launch?
