Need the ability to disable / turn off users instead of delete

We need to be able to disable or turn off users instead of delete them. When a user leaves the company we still want to attribute all actions / elements / hours logged to that user object instead of having them be deleted for compliance standards. The user object should be changed to a "disabled" status so that all work done by that user is still attributed to that object but the user is no longer active and can no longer log in / change things / do things. This will resolve compliance and historical reporting while also being a relatively low effort fix.

Freeze user during absence (e.g. maternity leave)

We would like to have the ability to freeze a team member during a temporary absence (e.g. for maternity leave), knowing they will fully resume their duties when they return. Since there are, as of yet, no teams that consist of both full and external members (https://hiveteams.canny.io/feature-requests/p/ability-to-create-teams-with-both-licensed-and-external-members), downgrading them to external users removes them from all teams they are part of and requires re-adding them when they come back. It would be helpful if we could just freeze their account to avoid payment.

Kelley Bunge: oh really ???
Kelley Bunge
Ryan Carroll: Yes! We updated the behavior of user removal so that data isn't lost when a user is removed. All actions/resource assignments/hours logged are still attributed to the user but the user is shown as 'disabled' and they are no longer able to log in or access their account.

Kelley Bunge: just to confirm how this works, if i go under "Manage Users" and then "remove" them. They will still be in the system and all of their hours / assignments etc are still attributed to them, but they are no longer active in the system? Or is there another way i should be doing it?
Kelley Bunge
Ryan Carroll: Yes that is correct!

Kelley Bunge: Hi Kelly - i tried this today, and the users was removed from my workspace but I don't see theme as "Removed" they're just gone. Has this feature not fully rolled out or is there something that I'm missing ?
Kelley Bunge
Ryan Carroll: This feature is live. I'll reach out to you via email to get more information! We can look into why it's not behaving as expected.

Kelley Bunge: Hi Kelly any update on when the next update for this will be ?
Kelley Bunge
Ryan Carroll: Hi Ryan- The updated behavior for removed users in resourcing will be live by the end of Q4! I will reach out to you directly once this goes live since the main request has been completed.

Kelley Bunge: I would like details on what the 'updated behavior' for removed users will be when it rolls out in Q4.

Kelley Bunge: Please contact me to let me know what the 'updated behaviors' for removed users will be by the end of Q4.
The feature I need is: disable user
This should not allow the user to log into Hive, but keep the user's assignments, history, etc. so I may still search projects & actions by the 'disabled user'. As an admin, I must remove a user's access, sometimes with very little notice, but still need search ability to reassign actions. I cannot do this if I 'delete' the user.
Kelley Bunge
Penny Friend: The update we're working on is to keep the users data in resourcing. I've created a separate request for what you're after! https://hiveteams.canny.io/feature-requests/p/searchfilter-for-a-removed-user

Please unmerge the post "Manage Users - Ability to downgrade users to external users (rather than just remove them)".

Ryan Carroll: Yes for really real! :)

Kelley Bunge:
Will we be able to deactivate both full and external users and reactivate them if needed?
Will we be able to downgrade full users to external users (as it is possible to upgrade external users to full users)?
Kelley Bunge
Maria Steger: The change that we're making here is that when you remove a user, none of the users data will get deleted and it will still attributed to them. This will ensure that reporting remains accurate and that nothing that the user was previously working on gets lost!
M

Kelley Bunge: Thank you, Kelley. Does it mean that we won't be able to reactivate a user (after e.g. a maternal leave)? Does it mean a "reactivated" user would rather be a new user without them having access to their previous data?
If the new feature does not include the ability to downgrade full users to external users, the post below should be "unmerged", I guess?

There is another request asking for the ability to downgrade users to external users. It would be perfect if we could either disable users or downgrade them to external users.

Please make it possible to
- downgrade full users to external users
- disable full users
- disable external users
- re-enable as external or full user
It is important to have both options: downgrade and disable.
Being able to downgrade full users to external users is not enough because external users still have access to the project and will get notifications.
We need to be able to disable both full and external users to have a record of what they did for reporting purposes when they are no longer part of the team.
Please make sure that we are able to see both their action assignments and their comments and chats when they are disabled.
Gina Lockwood
Yes please! I'd still like to see actions completed by deleted users and Time tracking / Analytics reports that show removed users.

Just trying to keep this open and get some traction on this request.
