There are a number of project custom fields that are very important for financial reporting and planning. Only certain people should have access to be able update these select fields so that the data is clean.

Agree, this is a much needed feature for custom fields related to financial reporting.
We need to restrict the data (value) that is entered in certain custom fields. We would like to restrict this to admins or a specific person/group.

This could be a matrix with columns representing user types (Super Admin?, Admin, member, External) and rows representing each function the user type can edit.

Manpower Group needs the ability to lock certain "action custom fields" so that information in that field can not be edited. Only admins should have editing rights

For some teams project templates already have the custom fields logged and need to remain that way for the entire duration of the project. Changing these fields could cause serious miscommunications so they want to restrict custom field edit access to admins only on certain projects.
