This can be done using Hive Automate! There is a recipe in the community library titled 'When new Project is created, set default status'.

I think this could be solved in Hive Automate, using the set project status API call. https://developers.hive.com/reference/set-project-status
I love this idea and hope to try making it happen in a few days. It would be great if users could share their solutions (maybe they can and I don't know how yet).
Edit: I couldn't figure out how to view the community library in Hive Automate, but this link might work: https://app.workato.com/recipes/2428215?st=8568b4

Josh Fuller: Would love to help you get this working. Are you referring to setting statuses up within a project automatically (like a project template), or changing the status of the Project itself upon creation (or some other cadence)?

Brian Holthouse: I have an automation working that sets a project status when a new project is created, then changes status when certain labeled actions are completed. It works beautifully. The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to share it as an example of the functionality described here.
Thank you for reaching out!

Josh Fuller: That's great! You can always share the recipe to the Community Library, and then give the recipe title out for other users to search for, and use in their own workspace.
Sharing the recipe publicly is as easy as: Open up a recipe, click Settings, click Sharing, and then click 'List Recipe'.

It would actually be great if default statuses could be set when someone fills out a request form - so that the status is set to "Unstarted". Unless this already exists?
